One of these vitally important business tasks is processing incoming checks, also known as “lockbox services.” A bank providing the lockbox service picks up the customer’s mail from a PO Box and deposits the customer’s checks on their behalf.

Sumner Bank & Trust received numerous requests for “lockbox services” from customers and prospects but were unable to provide these services profitably. They wanted to help their customers, but not at a loss.

InStream took over management of Sumner Bank & Trust’s lockbox service enabling them to get back to what they do best: banking. InStream picks up mail from a PO Box for Sumner Bank & Trust customers, deposits their checks, and makes available images of the checks and any supporting documentation (notes, remittance information etc.) All this data is available in a secure, web-based document management system. InStream can even provide a posting file to the customer’s accounting system to post the payments the same day they arrive.

Outsourcing these functions to InStream has allowed Sumner Bank & Trust to more aggressively pursue new opportunities in the lockbox space without having to implement a scalable solution internally. Problem solved!
